Choosing a Great Gadget for You in 2022
By now, it’s almost 2022, and things have changed – for better or worse? I’m not sure myself but let’s take a look at the technological world we live in these days. If you thought cell phones (smartphones) were great in 2017, wait until you see how they look 7 years from today.
Are these even possible? Do they really exist? Yes, they do – at least according to some leaked specs on the internet – who knows whether they’ll ever come into existence, though. But let’s assume they do since this is just a story anyway…
First of all – what happened to laptops? Well, it turns out that most people didn’t really need them anymore because these new gadgets are so powerful and flexible that you can replace your entire office setup with one single device. They’re basically like fully-fledged computers but even more compact than your average laptop. These phones also come with various other kitsch features as the “virtual assistant”, which is like Apple’s Siri or Amazon Alexa. You can ask anything, provide some context, for example, by talking about specific locations (rivers, elevators, etc.), and get reminded about something later when you arrive at the place in question.
But more about that later. Let’s talk about the market for these mobile phones first. Who manufactures them? Well, there are basically two major players – Apple and Samsung who’ve been dominating this market for quite some time now. Seems like their reign is slowly coming to an end, though, because of new up-and-coming manufacturers such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and OnePlus. It seems like these young guns really want to own a piece of the cake, and it’s actually pretty easy to see why:
That didn’t turn out too bad for them. And yes – that last model (Huawei P20 Pro) was actually available on preorder from 2017 already! Can you believe that? So how much does one of that cost? Well, I’m not sure about the price point of those earlier models – but it seems like the P20 Pro retails for about $1,400. And that’s probably a good sign because you know these companies have to make a decent profit off their products, or they will no longer be able to enter the market. But what else does this phone include? Let’s take a closer look:
Specs-wise these phones are no slouches either! It seems like there’s been enormous progress in terms of processing power and memory since 2017. And that makes sense, really, since we all just want faster speeds and more responsive user experiences, right? Of course! As mentioned, before you can ask your virtual assistant pretty much anything; it’ll be able to tell you the relevant answer – most likely.
Disclaimer: The is a work of fiction. All names mentioned are fictional; any resemblance to real people, places, or events is purely coincidental (well, if you consider the fact that it’s 2022 and probably not all that unlikely).
